Meraki Orkestar

Orlando Cialli - Saxes, Clarinet & Duduk

With the Meraki Balkan Orkestar you will come
projected into an exotic world with oriental atmospheres,
you will feel the taste of goulash and baklava,
you will smell the freshly fermented plums in the rakija,
the distant call of the muezzin and you will see the sparkling waters of the
Danube pass under the flowers on the feast of St. George.
The Meraki Balkan Orkestar will make you savor the sparkling
melodies that travel the long way on the Istanbul-Berlin axis
making you listen to songs of ancient origins, jealously preserved
in the most remote villages of the Balkan mountains or the Aegean islands.
Orlando Cialli - Sax & Clarinet
Giorgio Gadotti - Sax
Lorenzo Mocellin - Trumpet
Francesco Della Pelle - Tenor Horn
Tommaso Currò - Accordeon
Simone Meoni - Double Bass
Andrea Anifantakis - Drums
The Meraki Balkan Orkestar is formed by an eclectic percussionist
coming from distant Crete, a strong and powerful double bass,
an accordionist from the distant valleys of eastern Tuscany,
a tenor horn who came down directly from the Gran Sasso mountain
and to flavor it all sparkling saxophones and trumpets
with hispanic inflections that come together in a mix of sounds and noises
at the same time modern and ancient, ritual and irreverent,
festive and reflective, bewitching and deafening.
With the Meraki Balkan Orkestar you will dance and travel with
the mind in a distant Serbian marriage,
in a bar mitzvah in the Ashkenaz valley
or in a forgotten ritual in the middle of Cappadocia,
in a world that speaks of lost and found loves,
invaders and invaded, summers that pass, moonlight, ladybugs,
black cats and white cats ...
